The City of Springfield Forestry Division is responsible for the planting and maintenance of all City trees (trees that are in the right-of-ways or boulevards), as well as several landscaped areas throughout the City. The Forestry Division is also responsible for mowing numerous public right-of-ways and overseeing the mowing of City Boulevards.

Brush Recycling
A brush recycling center is available to the public at no charge at:

The center will take most yard waste such as tree limbs, old leaves, dead dried flowers, vines, etc., but will not accept grass clippings.
Trees
Memorial Tree Planting
A Memorial Tree Fund is available to those who wish to plant a tree in the right-of-way in honor/memory of someone or to add to the beautification of their neighborhood. Call (937) 525-5800 for more information.
Tree Trimming/Removal
Private trees are the responsibility of the home owner. Any private contractor doing tree work should be a Springfield City licensed tree worker. A listing of licensed tree workers is available in the Forestry Division Office located at the City Service Center at 2100 Lagonda Avenue or by phone at (937) 525-5800.
Tree Worker License
Tree companies working within the City limits are required to be licensed by the City of Springfield. The Forestry Division handles licensing for tree companies. For an application and testing call (937) 525-5800 or visit the City Service Center at 2100 Lagonda Avenue.

Emerald Ash Borer
This division is also responsible for implementing the City's EAB Management Plan in response to the decimation of ash trees from the pest known as the "Emerald Ash Borer".

The City of Springfield holds an annual Arbor Day observance the last Friday in April each year. For the past several years we have held the ceremony at one of the schools within the City limits.
