The Street Maintenance Division is responsible for the maintenance and repair of city streets and public alleys. Activities include pothole repair, crack sealing, asphalt repairs, filling and grading of both gravel and asphalt alleys, guardrail repair and replacement, and street sweeping as needed.
The Division attempts to repair potholes on streets as soon as they become a problem. Alleys are a lower priority and are repaired as workload permits.
During winter months, crews are responsible for ice control and snow removal on arterial, collector, and residential streets. The City's goal is to have all streets cleared within 12 hours after the end of the storm event. Various factors such as manpower, materials, weather conditions, and time of the event may cause delays in street clearing. Questions may be directed to (937) 525-5800.
The Street Maintenance Division is also responsible for posting No Parking for street repair, contractor work, and special events.
Included in the division's duties is the removal of debris and dead animals from public right-of-ways. Problems with stray or menacing animals should be directed to the Humane Society at (937) 399-2917.
